About SDSFF

Alysse and Ashley are passionate foodies, who enjoy tasting the flavorful and unique flavors across various cuisines. Alysse is from Southern California, and Ashley is from Northern California, both of which are rich in culture and cuisine. 

Alysse and Ashley both enjoy creating food blogs and sharing their foodie findings with others. They met at work at a university in San Diego and discovered that they had shared interests, skills, and passions. They are also both passionate about the black community and saw an opportunity to highlight the distinct flavors, history, and culture that are associated with soul food. Alysse had the vision to bring a soul food festival to San Diego and immediately knew Ashley would be the perfect person to help bring that vision to life. They realized that, very rarely does soul food get to be highlighted and celebrated in the way that it deserves, and as two people who enjoy tasting food across different cuisines they set out to create an experience for those in the San Diego community to taste their way through delicious soul food cuisine. 

They both are excellent event planners and executors who enjoy being able to create purpose driven, community -focused events, and worked together to put on the San Diego Soul Food Festival.
